ADIRONDACK HARLEY OWNERS GROUP

MCDERMOTT'S CORNER

Here's the scoop for this month.........

For starters, as of April 19th we will be starting our summer hours, which means we will be open from 11 to 4 on Sundays.

Next.....because of the large increase of special order items we will now be ordering twice a week. Now instead of just a Thursday order we will include a Tuesday morning order. For those of you that visit on the weekend this will help speed up the delivery time on in- stock items. We will only do this for the busy summer months and will go back to the regular ordering schedule when things quiet down in this fall.

Just a reminder that the latest Harley promo has begun. Don't miss out.

This month we would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Paula Harrold on May 19th and to Cindy Cross on May 29. Have a Happy Ladies!!

Until next month...........

TOM, ALMA AND THE FOLKS

And speaking of the McDermott's, a special thanks would like to be expressed by a couple of members of our chapter. Not always do we hear about the good and get praise in what we do. Theron and Karen Gates would like to change that and extend their gratitude to the McDermott family.

Saturday, March 14, 1998 it's snowing, blowing, and about 30 degrees.

Our daughter Becky (nursing student and home health aide) was on her way to a new assignment in Fort Ann when her car skidded on Rt. 149 and ran off the road.

She called home to us in Cambridge for help from her mother and I. She was OK.

We hopped in our old truck and headed to Fort Ann. When we got to her car it was too far off the road for our 2-wheel drive truck. What to do?!

We went to McDermott's and Pat was plowing the parking lot. We asked if he could pull the car out and without hesitation, he said, "I'll try."

Pat pulled the car out and we left the car at McDermott's overnight because of axle damage.

McDermott's is a neighbor kind of business. You can always count on them (all of them) to help.

I want to thank Pat and all of the McDermott's gang for being there and always willing to help in tough situations without hesitation. No one ever says, "I can't" or "we don't have time" etc. A great group!! Support McDermott's whenever you can.

DIRECTOR'S CORNER

Hi gang,

Well, April's almost gone and it looks like there will be a busy riding season ahead. There's only about 40 days left till Milwaukee, and I can't wait to get on the "road back home." Hope everybody plans for the trip are set and you are just waiting to take off.

The plans for the "Adirondack Roundup" are going great. If the weather holds out (and good weather has been ordered), we should have another good turnout. If you have door prizes, turn them in to Dianne Collins, Sally Stevely, or McDermott's.

A couple of clubs have runs coming up in May. Woodstock's Ride is Saturday, May 16th. There will be a group of members leaving the Grand Prix at Exit 11 of the Northway and heading down (leaving 9 AM sharp). Then on Sunday, May 31st. Sacandaga Chapter will be holding their ride. Members will be meeting at Shirley's Restaurant on West Avenue in Saratoga to ride over (again leaving 9 AM sharp). Let's support both of these clubs because they support our charity run heavily.

That's about it for now folks. Enjoy the start of the riding season and watch out for those 4 wheeled vehicles. We see them but a lot of times they don't see us. Till we meet again---

RIDE SAFE!!!

Marriage is a three-ring circus: Engagement ring, wedding ring, suffering.

Only kidding Roy and Cheryl!!

ADIRONDACK ROUNDUP

Everything is running smoothly with the "Roundup" operation. It looks like there will be plenty of food and everything on the list has been donated. The only food item left are the desserts baked by both the Ladies of Harley and the rough, rugged Harley men. We have great door prizes but don't quit now, the more-the merrier. Please have donators names and addresses for Sally and Dianne. It's very important that appreciation and thank-you letters are sent out.

NEW MEMBERS

Paul Gerritsen--- will be in the area for our summer months and will contact us then with his local phone number. We're a great group

regardless of what you've heard.

AMA NEWS

April 4th was the AMA award banquet in Climax, NY and those that went had a great time. Our one and only, Tom McDermott, won two special awards. One for "Outstanding Dealership" during Americade. I think we can all agree that the McDermott Shop does a great job with the hustle and stress during the week of the Americade. And secondly, the "Lifetime Achievement Award" for the lifetime of dedication to motorcycling.

And lets not forget the special award dedicated to Harvey Collins for recruiting the most AMA members in a club. I guess you can say Harvey's a great solicitor (not to mention a smooth talker and charmer). It's for a great cause and Harvey did a great job increasing our club attendance to AMA. Congratulations guys!!

Not only was the food good and plenty of it, but many prizes were given out and our club walked away with some great prizes. Cata, our club treasurer took off with the 50-50 winnings of $126. Money stays with money I guess. She didn't stop there. How about a nice Harley sweatshirt and a mouse pad. Carol Casey won a mouse pad, a can of delicious Harley coffee and a free pass to the Romers "Sink or Swim" run. Not bad for a night out with Tim Donbeck and George Polunci in Climax!

There's only a couple AMA meetings left until summer hits, so please contact Harvey if you have anything to discuss or want sent back to our representatives.

Thanks to the generosity of the McDermott's, the Adirondack Chapter now has a club banner and it's a beauty. It will be displayed at the Double HH Ranch on May 17th, just in time for our run.

CLUB DUES

Each January is our club sign-up month to register for another year of funfilled events. Not only is it important to pay the $5 fee, but to sign a current release form to update the clubs liability through Harley Davidson. This task has gotten a little lax over the past few years. Please remember to pay and sign, it will make jobs a little easier.

For anyone interested in signing up for the Vermont/New Hampshire State HOG Rally, contact Allan Baird. Pre-registration is by July 6th and Allan has several forms.

NEXT MEETING

The next board meeting is scheduled for May 15th at McDermott's shop at 7:30 sharp. Big time planning will be going on to finalize our major run of the year.
