Chair Kevin Becker called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. He introduced himself and the new Secretary, Sarah Stevens, both from the Roamers MC.
19 people were in attendance, representing 10 clubs.

Secretary’s Report: was read and accepted.
Treasurer’s Report:
General Fund: $1115.08
Emergency Fund: $2004.07
Charity Fund: $469.00
The raffle netted approximately $657
The report was accepted.
Old Business:
Motorcycle Exhibit at Albany Institute of History and Art; Designs thru
Time: Motorcycles Past, Present and Future, February 28 - June 6. For more info and some great photos of the bikes go to their website:
www.albanyinstitute.org or call the Institute at 518-463-4478. Larry Schwartz would like everyone to get the word out to the clubs - riders and non-riders alike.

Website: John Campione would like everyone to utilize this great tool called the internet! All the clubs can have a sight, free of charge and a webmaster to take care of it. What he needs most is information! Events especially - all so clubs can attend each other’s events - you don’t have to depend entirely on flyers.
Also on the website is a sign-in if you would like to receive news emails - contact John Campione for more info: johnc@albanyweb.com. Website:
www.amadist3.com

Speaking of clubs events: Larry Schwartz has put forth an idea that is used in California - clubs get together and have a joint run, thereby cutting down the number of events during the summer, so that all the clubs can attend all the scheduled runs. Everyone supports everyone. Obviously this is not possible for this season, but next season will be here before you know it. Reps - please take this to your clubs for their opinion and report back at the next meeting or drop me an email.

The winners of the raffle have received their prizes and they were much appreciated.

MRF (the National Lobby): Because the District Road Division is now a member, we receive a bi-monthly newsletter. They will be available for you to read at the meetings and will be kept with the Secretary. Individuals can become members for $25/ yr. and clubs can become sponsor members for $100/yr.
Beast of the East - this year at Canandaigua, NY, April 29 - May 2.
Registration before March 29th: $60 members/$70 non-members, after March
29th: $70 members/$80 non-members.
“The MRF is once again this year offering the charter group rate for BEAST of the East. A $100 registration fee covers conference registration and conference materials ONLY for unlimited attendees from an individual chapter of a state motorcyclists' rights organization. This applies to individual chapters only, not to state organizations as a whole.
Individual attendees will be
responsible for the cost of the banquet and their hotel rooms. The banquet is $25 per person. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity for your local chapter, prior to March 29,
2004 you must send ALL of the following to the MRF office at P.O. Box 1808, Washington, DC
20013-1808: chapter registration form a check for $100 for your chapter registration a list of the individuals attending from your chapter, including their full names, addresses and phone numbers a list of those individuals who plan to attend the banquet $25 for each individual who plans to attend the banquet” - from the website - fyi. See Prospector for more information and check out the website: www.mrf.org.

Legislative Report: Larry Schwartz reported that the big push this year will be passing the “Yield Right of Way” bill. The Assembly will be more difficult to sway than the Senate. The 24th of February is Lobby day, so Larry and Prospector will be at the offices doing their best. Also, a hearing will be held on Feb. 27th in NYC. Contact Larry for more information.

Banquet news: Althea Frier needs the attendance numbers by April 8th!
Re: Awards - Brad Barrett, John Scavo and and Ken Fiacco are the awards committee. John brought in an example of a plaque and it was decided the committee would decide on what the awards should look like. Please get you award ideas to Brad asap! Call him at 370-3203.

New Business:
Frank Buckman proposed we try to reach the younger, sport bike riders. CMA has started a “Youth Movement” to try to reach younger riders. The key would be to go where they are to try to get them interested. Other suggestions included going to the Farmer’s Daughter Ride-in on the 2nd Wednesday of the month during the season and help them either join clubs or help them create their own club. This will take effort, of course, but would be really worth it to help build a bigger biking community.

John Campione suggested we “Give Back to the Membership” by patronizing businesses owned by club members. John will be posting a list on the website and needs names! Please contact him at: johnc@albanyweb.com.

The District Road Division needs to choose a charity for this year. Please send your ideas to me so I can compile a list. We will vote from the list at the March meeting.

Announcements:
The PAC hat garnered $53. Every dollar counts, so if you are comfortable, please pass the PAC hat at your club meetings. Larry and Prospector will thank you tremendously.
50/50 proceeds go to the General Fund.

February 29th - Roamer’s Charity Bowl, 12-3 pm. at Sportsman Bowl on Crane Street in Schenectady. The cost is $12 per person, $5 of which goes to the District 3 Charity (when we decide).

May 17th - ABATE Freedom Rally. More info to come or contact Prospector.

March 15th - next AMA District 3 Road Division meeting. 7:30pm at the Village Diner, 1090 Troy-Schenectady Rd., Latham, NY 12110. 518-783-6005.

If you would like to do a raffle again, please donate items.

Meeting adjourned at 9:38 p.m.
