AMA MINUTES
MEETING OF MAY 17, 2004
Chairman Kevin Becker called the meeting to order at 7:27 p.m.
19 people were in attendance, representing 10 clubs.
Secretary’s Report: was read and accepted.
Treasurer’s Report:
General Fund: $1061.08
Emergency Fund: $2592.07
Charity Fund: $469
The report was accepted.
Legislative Report: Larry and Prospector reported that the Right
of Way bill was in the Senate on May 19th and headed to the
Transportation Committee in the Assembly as well. the Handlebar
Height Bill has passed the Assembly and is expected to pass in
the Senate also.
Old Business:
Banquet: We’ve tabled the final report for this event until all
receipts are in and accounted for.
Charity: “Adopt a Soldier” has been chosen for this year’s
charity by votes from the group of: Susan Colman Breast Cancer
Foundation, Unity House in Troy, Albany Community Dispute
Mediation Group, Shriner’s Hospital and “Give a Child
Christmas”.
AM-JAM is looking for volunteers to man their AMA booth - up to
15 people can be utilized. Contact Mark Catlin if you are

only a few hours per shift are necessary, so you can still enjoy
the event!
Americade needs volunteers for their AMA booth as well. Contact
Brad Barrett for more info: 518-370-3203.
Spitze Memorial: Larry Moyer has ordered the stone and the
inscription, which will be put on a brass plaque. The stone
should be ready by June and a dedication party is in the the
works for a Saturday in June - more details forthcoming via
email. Larry Moyer has generously paid the remainder of the bill
for the memorial (approx. $1000), however, this is a major
expense, so we would like all the clubs to take up a donation to
help cover the costs.
Denis Petrie reported that the Albany Institute didn’t have any
open weekends in June to host a fundraiser.
Note to awards committee for next year’s banquet - the Institute
should be strongly considered for an award.
The trifold cards are in - contact your club rep.
New Business:
From Larry Schwartz - District 3 Road Division is receiving a
grant from the AMA for $3000. He proposes that $500 go to the
Spitze Memorial, $500 to the PAC and $2000 to the District,
ear-marked for various activities such as Community Outreach.
Prospector reported that the radio station, WVKZ 1240 AM has a
new show called “Ridin’ Easy”, on the air on Mondays from 12-1
and they need callers!
ABATE is sponsoring the PAC with a 50/50. Tickets are $10 each
and 1000 tickets will be available, so a great payout is
possible.
Banquet 2005: T Frier has generously agreed to handle the
details for the Banquet next year. We’ve decided to have the
event on Saturday at 5pm, and T will determine which dates are
available still at Quarry.
Announcements:
PAC received $40, 50/50 was $12 - $6 to T Frier, $6 to the club.
The Red Knights are organizing a run on September 18th to
benefit the Center for Hope. For more info contact:

518-884-8761. The Center for Hope is a not-for-profit
organization dedicated to supporting families and friends to
cope with the ambiguous disappearance of a loved one.
The Griffins Gypsy Tour on July 23 and 24 will be having an
auction for which you will need “bucks”. You can earn them by
visiting local businesses, starting in June. Please visit the
