AMA MINUTES
MEETING OF MAY 16, 2005
Chairman Kevin Becker called the meeting to order at 7:34 p.m.
16 people were in attendance, representing 10 clubs.
Secretary’s Report: was read and accepted Treasurer’s Report:
General Fund: $1638.48
Emergency Fund: $2934.32
AMA Grant: $1750
Charity Fund: $250
The report was accepted.
Legislative Report: Prospector reported that the Freedom Rally
was a big success with a good turnout by motorcyclists and a
good reception from the Legislature.
Larry S hopes both the Yield Right of Way bill and the
Handle-Bar Height bill with get through both houses by the next
meeting.
Denis Petrie reported chatting up Rep Neil Breslin at the Maria
College Commencement.
Mark Catlin reported on the MCON national meeting in Memphis.
Members of NY Abate were also at the meeting. Topics included
the use of the Patriot Act to combat gangs assosciated with some
motorcycle clubs and what to do at a crash site beyond First
Aid.
-The PAC received $80 this month, $34 from the meeting and $46
from the Roamer Run.
Old Business:
-Marty Herman made up packages and wrote letter for 10 local
soldiers in Iraq. He read the letter for us and most at the
meeting signed them. Larry S. raised enough money for the cost
of the packages during the Roamer Run.
-Frank Buckman reported on the Vietnam Memorial Wall escort on
the weekend of May 2nd. Over 3000 bikes, 7 miles long attended.
The ride was fun and safe.
New Business:
-Banquet 2006 - “T” spoke with Quarry Steakhouse and has secured
April 22nd,
2006 as the date. A motion was made and passed to keep the
ticket price the same as last year - $30. “T” will make fliers
and tickets closer to the banquet.
-Denis Petrie had the opportunity to post Governor Pataki’s
proclamation in a few places and talk to a few folks who might
not be as aware of motorcycling.
-Denis Petrie will find out if District 3 can have a table along
with the AMA National Trailer during Americade. Clubs should
plan on bringing flyers to promote their event.
Good and Welfare:
-Larry M’s new trial date is August 1st.
