AMA MINUTESDIVISION 3 ROAD DIVISION MEETING
OF FEBRUARY 20, 2006
Chairman Mark Catlin called the meeting to order at 7:34 p.m.
17 people were in attendance, representing 11 clubs.
Secretary’s Report: was read and accepted.
Treasurer’s Report:
General Fund: $1577.02
Emergency Fund: $2268.88
AMA Grant: $1250
Charity Fund: $250
Monies for "Support our Troops" efforts: $63.
Two people were assisted by the Emergency Fund for the full
amount possible
($250): Tammy Chamberlain and Pat Schlamowitz.
One club still is outstanding with its dues.
The report was accepted.
Legislative Report:
-The Yield-Right-of-Way bill is still treading in the Rules
Committee, but is expected to pass this session. The bill might
be split with the penalties and surcharges a separate bill.
Larry S. is working on this with the new lawyer in the Rules
Committee, John Bailey.
-Assemblyman Ortiz has two bills pending; the original bill
that would require all vehicles to have a breathalyzer and a new
one that restricts the breathalyzer to only those with a DUI /
DWI conviction. This second bill has a better chance of passing.
-The PAC received $41 during the meeting.
Old Business:
-Banquet: we now have 10-12 nominations so far! Keep them
coming - the March meeting is the deadline! T Frier made tickets
and a flyer for the event.
She will send tickets to club reps who were not at the
meeting. T will need a count for the restaurant, so please let
her know how many tickets you have sold and/or how many people
you know will be attending by April 18th. Please promote this
event to your club! The banquet will be on April 22nd, drinks at
5 pm, dinner at 6 pm at the Quarry Steak House, Climax, NY.
Tickets are $30, $10 of which will go to the Emergency Fund.
Please don’t forget door prizes! We have only one so far...
-Trifolds: the trifolds should be ready for the March
meeting.
-John R. reported on the Vietnam Wall escort. They will be
based out of Malta and are awaiting on the place and date. The
organizers of the Wall are excited to have motorcyclists
involved.
New Business:
-Denis P. reported that Dal Smilie is now chairman of the
Board and that Rick Gray has stepped down due to his win in the
Lancaster Mayoral election.
The secretary will write a letter on behalf of the District
to congratulate Dal and another to thank Rick Gray for his
service.
-Larry M. reported that the North Carolina DA in charge of
his case was appointed a judge and is now running for reelection
of that position. A motion was made, voted on and accepted that
the PAC would contribute $500 to his campaign in memory of Tee
Moyer. Larry S. will contact the Off-Road Division to determine
their response. Denis P. noted that information about the
candidate and Larry M’s case is on the National AMA website for
the Carolinian contingent. The secretary will send a letter in
support of the candidate.
-Denis P. reported that we had good attendance at the
International Bike Show, our flyers were printed for free and
that many were taken by the MANYS that services western New
York. Look for new bikers at our events this summer.
Good and Welfare:
-Mark Catlin gave another update on Tammy Chamberlain’s
condition.
-Prospector is ill but should be back in action soon. Feel
free to give him a call.
Announcements:
-The Roamers are hosting a Charity Bowling event on March
5th. The event will be at Sportsman’s Bowl on Crane St. in
Schenectady from 11 am to 3 pm.

-The Red Knights are celebrating their 25th anniversary with
a raffle to win a motorcycle or cash value. Tickets will be
