AMA MINUTESDISTRICT 3 ROAD DIVISION MEETING
OF OCTOBER 16, 2006
Chairman Mark Catlin called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m.
10 people were in attendance, representing 5 clubs.
Secretary’s Report: was read and accepted.
Treasurer’s Report (submitted via email):
General Fund: $1557.96
Emergency Fund: $2953.00
AMA Grant: $650.00
Charity: $313.00
Legislative Report:
-Prospector updated us on the Frank Lautenberg situation: MRF
is meeting with him to get him to ‘lay off’.
-Prospector reported on the MRF Meeting of the Minds meeting:
NYS ABATE was recognized and awarded by the MRF and the AMA for
their work on the Yield-Right of Way law! The meeting was very
productive and Prospector reminded all that clubs and
individuals can be members of MRF. The MRF operates with no
revenues, so they depend on memberships and donations.
Lucas Oil Co. has made a donation that the MRF is planning to
use as a membership drive tool, i.e. a raffle - check out their
website for updates (mrf.org). Note that INB Radio broadcasts
the meetings and also have them archived - these are also
available on the website.
-Denis and Mark C reported on Congress: Larry S will host a
workshop next
year: ‘How to Build a PAC’. Contact either Denis or Mark to
review the 2" of Rules Changes!
Dave Hembroff is the new Road Riding Manager and is a
pro-rider/grassroots efforts type of guy. He hopes to attend the
District meeting in December.
AMA is looking for a new insurance broker because the old
broker was bought out and the new one does not want to insure
‘1001’ rides or continue in the event insurance business. The
AMA has found a broker that specializes in motor events.
The AMA is trying to motivate manufacturer owner-groups to
support AMA.
Mark C is hoping Paul Cote is on the ballot for Northeastern
rep on the AMA Board of Directors because is does not have an
agenda beyond representing people, both Road and Off-Road. Denis
has reservations that Paul will be able to shoulder the inherent
costs of the job.
Old Business:
-Marty Hermann reported on ‘Operation Adopt a Soldier’ which
is holding many upcoming events. Please call Cliff at
518-587-8010 for more info.
New Business:
-Banquet 2007! The Emergency Fund Fundraising Banquet is
March 31st, 2007 - save the date. Deb Catlin will follow up with
Quarry Steakhouse to confirm costs. We expect it will be the
same as last year ($30/ticket, $10 per ticket to the Emergency
Fund). Larry S would much appreciate some award nominations and
of course, door prizes will be much appreciated.
-Sarah S made a motion to cancel the November meeting as the
Sanction meeting is so close.
-Nomination of District Officers: Larry M nominated the
entire current board, except the Congress Delegate, who is not
up for reelection. Denis P’s
was nominated for Congress; Maggie and Dave F were nominated
for Congress alternate. Additional nominations will be accepted
at the Sanction meeting.
