"Great advancements to report. The bill reducing tolls on the New York State Thruway for motorcycles has gotten through both the Transportation and Finance Committees in the State Senate. It's now in the Rules Committee and Larry Schwartz is working to get it out of there and onto the floor for a vote. In the Assembly, the matching bill is out of Transportation and in Ways and Means Committee and Larry has appointments with the leaders of both the Senate and Assembly Committees involved, to see if he can move them along. The helmet amendment bill is on the floor of the Senate, but the main sponsors are working to get the required support before bringing it to a vote. In the Assembly, a much more pessimistic outlook as the Chairman of the Transportation Committee, David Gantt of Rochester, has vowed not to let it out of committee. Larry and Bob Boellner of ABATE are working to find a way around Gantt, but that will not be easy. NYSORVA (New York State Off Highway Recreational Vehicle Association) now has a paid lobbyist working on the bill which would restore the ATV Trails Fund, something Larry's been working on as well. The bills in both houses had to be amended to match up and now must go through the Committee process. Hopes are high. More reports will follow."
