13 people were in attendance, representing 8 clubs.
Secretary’s Report: was read and accepted.
Treasurer’s Report:
General Fund $1172.96
Emergency Fund $2147.41
AMA grant $650.00
Safety award $50.00

Legislative Report:
Prospector reported about the meeting with NYTSA in January.
They had come to assess motorcycle safety in New York State. The
assessment was done by motorcyclists at NYTSA. Both Prospector
and Denis Petrie provided ‘testimony’ to the panel. The
preliminary findings were satisfactory. The recommendations
include reducing costs of courses, having more locations, change
legislation so that others can bid to provide safety classes
besides MANYS and getting the message out about the availability
of classes. Also discussed were rider equipment, such as
reflective gear and helmets. The final recommendations will come
out in a few months and we will receive a copy; Prospector will
follow up with the oversight Committee, as laws are on the books
that have not been implemented to disseminate info about
classes.
Denis and Prospector have an appointment with the DMV on Feb.
26th; the Rt. 84 situation will be discussed and the objections
to the confiscation bill will be addressed.
Prospector updated the status of the confiscation bill - it
passed in the Assembly last week and has had no Senate
objections so far.
Another bill is in the works in the Assembly that will require
new riders to take the safety course. This bill has no DMV or
Senate support.
Mary Peters of the DOT is looking to take grant money for
motorcycle safety and use it to promote helmet laws/use –
Prospector will follow up.
Larry S reported he sent his year-end report to AMA National
indicating dissastifaction with National not setting up PACs in
other states, not having Larry give a seminar at Congress, as he
thought he would be and having ABATE do more hard work for
motorcycle rights than AMA does. So far, only a note that they
received it. More dissastifaction with AMA National not
responding to members in the District on other matters was
expressed.
The PAC collected $38 at the meeting.
