Legislative Report:
Prospector reported that the session has just begun and he is
re-establishing contacts. The bills that are still alive are the
following: the confiscation bill, the helmet reform bill and the
red-light passing bill.
Another bill is in the works (in one house only at this point)
that will require new riders to take the safety course. There is
a Suffolk County law already on the books that requires a
license to purchase a bike, which infringes on one’s property
rights. Prospector will keep us up to date on the progress of
the bill.
NYTSA is coming to Albany on Jan 29th to do an assessment of
rider education. Denis and Prospector will attend the meeting.
Re the Rt.84 Roadblock situation – Denis P is meeting with the
DMV Commissioner via AMA at some point to discuss the situation.
