passed in the Assembly back in February and is in rhe Senate
Transportation committee. Prospector has a meeting set up.
Another bill that would open the bidding for Rider Education is
in the 3rd reading in the Senate and headed to the Ways and
Means Committee in the Assembly. Prospector has a meeting set
up.
Road Blocks issue: Prospector met with the National Coalition of
Motorcyclists lawyer back in May to set up a letter of intent to
bring a class action lawsuit against NYS DMV and State Police
which was sent before Americade. There was a road block on the
Northway between exits 17/18 on the Friday before Americade
started and it made the news. The wheels are now in motion to
begin the class action lawsuit. Denis P reported that the AMA
President, Rob Dingman, is on board with a lawsuit as would the
Warren County Chamber of Commerce and hopefully the Tourism
Board. The NCM lawyer is currently working Pro Bono, but we may
need to collect funds to keep this issue going.
The PAC collected $25 at the meeting.
Old Business:
-a layout for the district banner was presented and approved.
The now ‘old’ AMA National logo will be changed in favor of the
now ‘new’ logo, presented in the AMA Magazine this past month.
The size was discussed as well as getting two of different
sizes.
-Sarah S made a motion that T Frier be supplied with additional
materials needed to make the bandana quilt that will be
auctioned off at the banquet. The motion was approved. T is also
looking for more bandanas!
-T Frier made a motion that the district charity be Gilda’s
Club. The motion was approved.
-Banquet 2009: T suggested that all the clubs donate a gift for
auction to benefit the charity.
New Business:
-Denis Petrie expressed his thanks to all those who volunteered
at the District 3 AMA booth at Americade and for all the support
given to him and his ride due to his situation.
