ADIRONDACK HARLEY OWNERS GROUP

DIRECTOR'S CORNER

Hi gang! Well, another of winter has come and gone. The weather keeps teasing us with some 40 degree weather, but then we get some of that reality check---snow and ice. Here's hoping for an early spring.

The planning for the annual benefit run is already in full swing. This years event is going to be called "The Adirondack Roundup." There is always room for volunteers. Please give Dianne Collins (793-8479) or Sally Stevely (885-7730) a call if you want to help. It would really be helpful if each member was able to get a door prize.

I'd like to complement Newsletter Editor Carol on a job she did on her first one. Keep up the good work!

That's about it for now folks. Remember, Milwaukee is about 100 days away. Till we meet again-BE SAFE!!

Joe T.

MCDERMOTT'S CORNER

Well, we made it back from sunny Phoenix just a little bit more informed than before. There are a few new items that just may interest some of you folks. Black wrinkle paint seems to be a pretty big factor this season.

Also, the spring and summer line of T-shirts should be arriving here in late March and early April. So stop in before the summer tourist snap them up.

We would like to wish a Happy Birthday to our own; Mary McDermott Hoertkorn on March 19th; and my personal favorite, Brad on March 23rd.

Not much else for now. Until next month........

Tom, Alma, and the folks.

MARCH BIRTHDAY'S

Harvey Collins March 3

Sharon Amorosi March 18

Doug Jones March 27

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVERYBODY!

I could use some help when it comes to birthday announcements. With new members and old records, I don't have everyone's birthdate. Many of you may think that's O.K. but how else am I going to embarrass you to our 100 members? Be grateful I don't publicize your birth year! Please contact me one way or another and let me know you and your spouses birthdates.

THANKS

TELEPHONE DIRECTORY

With the 1998 riding season coming upon us, maybe it would be a good idea to update our phone listing. It's been a couple of years since this list has been available to our fellow Harley riders. It's nice to have available everyone's phone number and address to call a friend to invite him/her for a dessert ride to Martha's ice cream, a ride to Debbie & Jerry Harrington's camp in Warrensburg, or just a ride to Lake George to make a lot of noise with our loud, illegal mufflers. For those of you who don't share my enthusiasm, please contact me at 793-3684 and your number will be eliminated from this list. I would like to distribute this phone list as soon as next month with the Newsletter, so please act ASAP.

"The Adirondack Roundup"

At the last monthly meeting, it was voted that our annual poker run needed something different to pizazz it up. Maybe with changes in the menu, the ride itself, more great prizes, and more games the Adirondack Run will be better then ever. The only thing that hasn't changed is the registration price. Pre-registration is still $12 per person and on-site registration is $15. Food only is $5 per person.

Since we are dedicating the Double H Hole in the Woods Ranch, a western style menu would be fitting. Chili with corn bread, hot dogs and hamburgs, cole slaw and nacho's, lemon ade and ice tea, coffee and hot tea, soda and the infamous delicious desserts served by our ladies and men of Harley. Just writing it makes me hungry. And of course, the usual donuts and coffee at the sign up at McDeromott's Shop.

The "get lost" ride will be the theme, similar to the one we experienced in Maine last spring. Our road captains will be putting their brilliant heads together to come up with a great route. Many have already volunteered for activities and food donations and there are only a couple months left until this great event, so lets show some enthusiasm and get involved. We still need more helping hands.

Having two activity chairpersons will make it easy for everyone to drop their donations off ahead of time. Dianne Collins will gladly take prizes at the northern end of our territory and Sally Stevely will take those at the southern end. Or if you're at McDermott's Shop stocking up for the up-coming riding season, just drop your goodies off there.

Enclosed with your newsletter are forms made out and signed by our fearless leader, Joe Tkacheff. Please take these around to collect prizes and donations. One contribution from each member will make our "Adirondack Roundup" a great success.

COME ONE-COME ALL

The next club meeting will be held at The Meeting Place on Rt 9 in Lake George on March 15th. Breakfast at 9:30 and the meeting at 10:30 sharp. The executive board meeting will be friday the 13th at McDermott's. Your creative minds and ideas will be greatly appreciated. So speak up now or for ever hold your peace.

MILWAUKEE!!

Harley Davidson's 95th Anniversary trip is sneaking up on us real quick. Our daily adviser, Debbie Harrington, has informed us that we are finally in the double digits for days to wait. Routes are being planned, hotels are being reserved and George Polunci is already picking out restaurants to eat at. Bill Wilson and John Wood has mapped out a great route to Milwaukee with a lot of sight-seeing and activities. Anyone interested in riding with Bill, please call him at 587-2269 for details. More information concerning this adventurous trip will be in up-coming Newsletters.

CONGRATULATIONS!

We have some exciting news in our club. Roy Johnson and Cheryl O'Keefe have announced their engagement. You should see the rock on Cheryl's hand. The next time you see her, I hope your wearing sunglasses! Who would have thought?! We wish them the best of luck and much riding together (and not only on the bike).

SAFETY RIDING COURSE

George Polunci has some new news on the safety riding course. Adirondack Community College will hold a class if there are 12 people or more interested in attending. George is anxious in getting this started but he needs riders to sign up now. The price is determined on the amount of attendants, so the more the cheaper. $50 in HOG BUCKS is reimbursed to you after the course is completed and an additional 10% will be saved on your bike insurance. How can you go wrong?! Contact George at 793-3684 if this is something you are interested in. Lets brush up on our riding skills with spring approaching us. You don't have to own a Harley to sign up for this class. I think I heard something about the Ladies of Harley supplying lunch again.

JOKE OF THE MONTH

Q: What do you get when you put the Vice-Presidents wife, Ronald Regan, and Bill Clinton in the same room together?

A: You have the tipper, the gipper, and the zipper!
