PIGTAILS

DIRECTOR'S CORNER

My fellow Hogs:

I hope nobody took me serious when I asked to go to their house for supper. Carol is only working three nights a week and I needed to lose weight anyway. As usual we had a great tunout for our Oct. meeting. Thanks to all that volunteered for office. It does make it easier when we have a lot of people to help out with the planning. I think it’s time to put the Harley up for the winter. I don’t know about anyone else, but riding when you have too have many layers of clothes on takes the fun out of it. But we have a lot of events planned for this winter. We should start with the list that George Braynack is putting together. I try to start planning next year’s rides now. This gives me something to get me through the winter. All you lucky people who go to Florida for the, please try to wait until after the holiday party. We always have a great time and I need to have more people to do the turtle with. Well, hope to see everybody at next months meeting at Jacks Place, November 19th at 9:30 AM.

MCDERMOTT’S CORNER

Happy Thanksgiving !!!

Don’t forget it’s harder to reach Tom now that it’s hunting season.   Your best bet is Tuesday and Wednesday id you need to see him.

Watch for the holiday specials coming soon!!!  Don’t forget the McDermott elves will wrap your gifts for you and proceeds go to the families in need that our HOG club will help out.

If anyone is still riding, watch out for those wet leaves!!

That’s all for now

AMA

Elections are coming up and it’s very important that we show our support to those who are for motorcyclists. David Gant is trying to stop us from riding on NYS roads.   Dan Lynch is running against him and needs our help with putting up signs.  AMA needs voices and writing to our local congressman is a good start.  If everyone who rode a motorcycle wrote to Joe Bruno at:

Senate Rules Committee

Chairperson: Joe Bruno

Legislative Office Bldg

Albany, NY 12247

asked him to kill the bill that wants inspection on bikes twice a year. Chuck Rob is against Harley Davidson and is using logos for his ad presenting bikers as gang members with guns and knives. George Allen is running against him and he needs our support.

The Griffins/Red Knights Toy Run that sponsored “Give a child a Christmas” was a good hit.  $726 plus toys was donated and every year it gets bigger.

NEW MEMBERS

Shane Zelker

Welcome Shane and we hope to see a lot of you.

Annual Fund Raiser

After much debate, the club has voted that next years fundraiser will be focused on two organizations.  The Fort Ann Rescue Squad and Amanda’s House in Glens Falls.  I’ve enclosed a write-up that the Post Star edited recently explaining in detail what Amanda’s House is all about.  I think everyone will agree that it’s a well, worthwhile cause.  It was voted that a 50-50 split would be made.

The Next Monthly Meeting

The next monthly meeting is at Jack’s Place in Corinth on November 19th. Breakfast at 9:30 and meeting at 10:30.  The board meeting is on Friday, November 17th at 7:00 at McDermotts.

See all of you then!!

50-50 WINNER

Pauletta Rucinski won a fat $40 at last months meeting. Way to go Pauletta!!

MAINE TOY RUN

What a great time we had!! The weather was perfect, the ride and scenery was gorgeous, and 1000’s and 1000’s of bikers showed up with a toy for the kids at Christmas time. And that’s what it’s all about—the kids!! Hope to see you at the Griffins and Blue Knights Toy Run on October 8th. Details are on the enclosed flyer.

And speaking of Maine, the Augusta Chapter has suggested that during next summer’s riding season, we get together and ride and party. They’re a great bunch of bikers that love to have a good time (don’t we all!!). George will keep in touch with them and fill us in on the details.

HOLIDAY PLANNING

At last months meeting, a list went around asking for volunteers to help shop for the Thanksgiving family and eventually the Christmas family.  Fran Donbeck will be getting in touch with the Washington County Social Services and will be given names of needy families for the holiday’s.  The list of volunteers was quite large and I know the families and kids will be grateful.  Everyone’s ideas, thoughts, and contributions are welcome.  Fran will be in touch with us and we will take it from there.

HOLIDAY PARTY!!!!!!

Fran Donbeck has organized another fun-filled night at the Fort William Henry on January 13th.  The cost is only $29.75 per person and that includes appetizers, full course dinner with coffee and dessert. Appetizers at 6:00 PM and dinner at 7:00 PM.  The entertainment is to be announced, although I think a room full of HOGS is entertainment enough!!  I hear George P. will be teaching everyone to do the “turtle.”  I hope Jan Wilson has her camera ready for this!!!

If anyone is interesting in renting a room for over-night accommodations, they are:

$62 for single

$68 for double

and that includes breakfast the next morning.

Checks can be made out to Fran Donbeck with your menu choice.  The more, the merrier.

NOVEMBER’S JOKE

Sam & Bessie are senior citizens.  Sam has always wanted an expensive pair of cowboy boots.  Seeing some on sale one day, he bought a pair and wore them home.   When he arrived home, he asked Bessie, “So, do you notice anything different about me?”

“What’s different? It’s the same shirt you wore yesterday, and the same pants. What’s different?”

Frustrated, Sam went into the bathroom, undressed and came out wearing only his new boots. Again, he said, “Bessie, do you notice anything different about me?”

“What’s different, Sam?” It’s hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday, and will be hanging down tomorrow.”

Angrily, Sam yells, “DO YOU KNOW WHY IT’S HANGING DOWN?  CAUSE IT’S LOOKING AT MY NEW BOOTS!”

Bessie replied, “You shoulda bought a hat!”

So ladies, the next time our man comes home with a new pair of riding leather boots, tell him, “You should have bought yourself a chrome helmet!!”
